What maker Double Fine called “a loving restoration of one of the most acclaimed adventure games of all time,” Grim Fandango Remastered comes with new features “that bring it to life looking and sounding better than ever.”
Among them are advanced lighting, high-resolution textures, new control options, and making-of commentary from the game’s original creators.
“An epic tale of crime and corruption in the land of the dead, Grim Fandango is a world of unforgettable characters with a theme that uniquely blends Mexican folklore and Film Noir,” Double Fine wrote in a blog post.
But more than a visual remake, Grim Fandango Remastered comes with an audible update, featuring a live orchestral soundtrack, re-recorded by Peter McConnell and the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
Grim Fandango originally debuted in 1998 for Windows. It’s now on sale on mobile for $14.99, though a special launch-week sale cuts the price to $9.99. The Latin jazz score is also available as a digital download from iTunes and Google Music for $9.99.
Steam users can also purchase the game and soundtrack together for a discounted $19.99.
